What is a Pixiebob

A Pixiebob is a domestic cat with a visual similarity to the North American Coastal Red Bobcat. Pixiebobs are
originally developed from Legend Cats, which is a cat believed to have bobcat ancestry. Please see
Origins to
find out more.

There are twelve subspecies of bobcat in America (Hall 1981; Anderson 1987) and different barn cats through out
the USA, which have allegedly mated. This will affect the different types of Legend cats which have come to be
the foundation of the Pixiebob. Bobcats have been known to be larger in the northern regions resulting in larger
Legend cats. The descendants of these old north west lines can be seen today.

They are very intelligent and great with children and form loving bonds with people. They are easy to train and
fetch toys as well as being non-destructive and are a quiet breed chirping on occasion, yes I said chirping! They
love other animals. They are also well known for having dog like traits, which makes for an unusual and
remarkable companion.

A show quality Pixiebob would have a bob tail as well as other desirable traits. A breed quality would have
desirable qualities which would enhance the continuation of the breed. A pet quality Pixiebob will also have
lovely traits from the breed and may include a long tail. Either Show, Breeder or Pet can be polydactyl and/or
have lynx tipped ears.
